I'm back!!! 2 weeks in Myanmar, now I need to adjust back to the s'pore culture... missed so many stuff here when I'm there but now that I'm back I miss Letpabya too... Shant blog about my whole trip lah, just some snippets here and there for me to bring back my memories otherwise I think I'll spoil my memories...
Letpabya
A nice little village... I like the life there, peaceful and worry-free... And when I'm there I finally learnt about the kampong spirit... Everybody is so dependent on each other u just have to trust everyone around you... And it's nice cos you become one big family... I like the children there too... they're all so innocent and so unlike the spoilt brats in S'pore... they'll keep waving and waving to you and in the sch they're all so attentive. Even Yangon is so much different in comparison...
Lessons
We all had lots and lots of fun during the lesson... Even the skit which we all dreaded when we started it off turned out to be the most memorable experience cos we all got our own group and through the week we got closer and closer to them... Haiyah I miss them a lot lorh, how often is it that you get girls holding on to your hands tightly everyday and putting flowers on you?
But then I think we jumped around too much the 2nd floor classroom seems to be on the verge of collapsing – the wooden floorboard is starting to sink in... Heh hopefully it wont start crashing down one day...
Shooting Stars
Woo hoo! I saw shooting stars leh! And not just one but three!!! Had a clear sky the first night we were in Letpabya... Wah I've never seen such a beautiful night sky before in my life... fan xing dian dian... then before we knew it Meizhen and I saw stars whoosing by! Shooting stars! We were so so happy... Haha we saw 2 more after that, but poor Belinda, Serene and Claudia every time they looked up it'll be gone... heh, I'm not called Yun Xin for nothing =) it was my lucky star day... but then again I didn't get to make any wishes cos every time before I know it the star would just whoosh by... sigh...
On being VIPS
Wah I felt like some big shot there lorh! I think we are one of the rare foreigners who get to live so intimately with the locals the authorities took very good care of us... The school built “westernized toilets” for us, we had the Director General for education paying us a visit and getting his people to drive us to the airport etc etc and had police following us everywhere we go... and thankfully for that we didn't get lost when we trekked back from an outlying village back to Letpabya. Then before we left we had treats from the village and the school and all the kids in the school would don heaps of jasmine flowers on us everyday... Heh we never even get such treatment in S'pore
On toilets and bathing
When we're there we were all fantasizing about the S'pore toilets cos over here everything goes down with one flush... err cant really say the same thing over there... The ones we used in Aung Hein's house still not that bad... haha it's the primitive kind with a pipe connecting it down to the shit hole so basically everything plongplongplong and goes down =) But the school specially built the sitting toilet bowl toilets for us and I think while we were there we spoilt the flush so the toilets turned out to be really gross... and we have to manually fill the tank too... all these plus the fact that the water doesn't come on all the time made it a courageous feat to use the toilet =) Bathing was a whole new experience too... Hah and I've concluded Wai Leng is a bian tai hahahaha...
Yup all in all the trip was great. Dun really know if we really made an impact there but the experience did made an impact on me... Must thank the people who made it possible and I never did once regret going for it... I miss Letpabya! I miss Phyo, and smart Alec and the other Burmese pple, I miss ahmah's bedime plus bathtime stories, I miss singing Eppo and kakukayku, I miss my team and the rest of project Letbabya... hopefully we'll meet up again soon...
For now I think I'll just hide at home for a week and treat my syphilis-like leg. And my stomach still feels funny, I feel like vomiting everytime I eat slightly more... Hmm... but at least my diarrhea is gone after taking that gentamycin jab in Yangon. And I'm very sad now cos my diarrhea jian fei plan didnt really work...=(
Ok that's it for now. I'll post my photos soon....
